Adding a Part
Track installed parts and their warranties so nothing slips through the cracks.
Tips
- Always log the installation date and odometer reading — these are needed for warranty expiration tracking.
- Keep your warranty records organized and easy to access by uploading them on the service details page.
- Record the part number — it makes reordering or verifying compatibility much easier.
Getting there
Parts are added as part of a specific service by clicking the Add Part button on the Service Details page. You add a part directly from the service's detail page. You can find all services for a specific vehicle on the vehicle's detail page. Or, you can choose from the list of all services you've recorded on the Services page.
Basic Information
Part Name Required
A descriptive name for the part.
Examples: Oil Filter, Front Brake Pads, Air Filter, Alternator
Part Number Optional
The manufacturer part number (e.g., ACDelco 41-993). Useful for reordering or verifying compatibility later.
Vehicle
The vehicle is automatically matched based on the service this part was installed on.
Service
The service is automatically matched when creating the part from the service. When created, the mileage from that service is automatically used as the mileage at install. However, you can update the install date and mileage for the part if needed. For example, you may have installed the part a few days after beginning a repair service.
Cost, Installation Date & Mileage at Install Optional
Record what you paid, when the part was installed, and your odometer reading at install. Installation date and mileage at install are required if you want warranty expiration tracking.
Description Optional
Any notes about this part — where you bought it, why it was replaced, condition observations, etc.
Warranty Information
Check This part has a warranty to unlock the warranty fields.
Warranty Provider Required if warranty is enabled
The company backing the warranty (e.g., AutoZone, Bosch, Toyota OEM).
Warranty Contact Optional
A phone number or email for warranty claims.
Lifetime Warranty
Check this if the warranty never expires. Time and mileage fields are hidden when this is selected.
Time-Based Warranty
Enter a duration and unit (Days, Months, or Years). For example, 36 Months for a standard 3-year warranty. Clutch calculates the exact expiry date from your installation date.
Mileage Warranty
Enter the number of miles the warranty covers. Clutch adds this to your mileage at install to calculate when coverage ends.
